No.2「天の瞳」シリーズ 小説 灰谷健次郎 Novels, Kenjiro Haitani
先生と園児(主人公)の親しみのある、しかし壮大な物語。作者が逝去されたため、完結せず、途中で終わっているものの、毎回読むたびに胸を打つものがあった。
It’s a heartwarming yet epic story about a teacher and a kindergarten student (the main character). The author passed away, so the story was left unfinished, but it still touches my heart every time I read it.

No.3「学力の経済力」学術書 中室牧子 Academic book, Makiko Nakamuro
学部時代、開発経済学及び行動経済学を専攻中に出会った一冊。ここに記述されていた「非認知能力」が衝撃的であり、日本の子どもの精神的幸福度がOECD加盟国の中でもワーストの現在、それを脱却するカギがここにあると感じた。モンテッソーリももちろん重視しながら、Googleやスタンフォード大学、ハーバード大学でも取り上げられているレッジョエミリアアプローチとも「非認知能力」は通じていると感じている。
I came across this book while I was an undergraduate majoring in development economics and behavioral economics. I was surprised at the “non-cognitive abilities” described in this book, and felt that this book holds the key to overcoming the current situation in which Japanese children’s mental well-being is the worst among OECD member countries. While Montessori is certainly important, I feel that the “non-cognitive abilities” concept is also relevant to the Reggio Emilia approach, which is also being adopted by Google, Stanford University, and Harvard University.
